PWC Gives & Pink Space Theory Enabling Young Girls to Lead with STEAM
It is a great thing to witness and be a part of change! It is much greater to be the driving force behind it. A group of noble nonprofit organizations is partnering as part of PWC Gives, a county wide 24-hour giving campaign led by the award-winning Prince William County Community Foundation.
Pink Space Theory is all set to participate in this history-making event to bring a drastic revolution to the future of girls in Prince William County. The vision is to enable and empower young girls with real-world STEAM education, to give them a secure future.
The Make Tech Pink Program
The Make Tech Pink Program is a six-week long program targeting girls in elementary. The program is composed of progressively challenging computer coding classes to teach girls coding along with collaborative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
The vision behind this program is to get more girls excited and interested in computer science to close the gender gap in the STEM sector. Make Tech Pink aims to do that by providing a more creative learning side through STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) education. The last program took place at Swans Creek Elementary with 14 girls. Hear first-hand from past participants by checking out this video.
Why must you donate to the fundraiser?
We need your help in offering more students access to our Make Tech Pink Program! By the year 2026, the county's STEM workforce is expected to grow by 2.5 million. The county needs to educate today's youth to meet the needs of the workforce. With your donation, girls from disadvantaged and underrepresented households will learn valuable technology skills to contribute to the development and future of Prince William County.
Moreover, the girls can financially support themselves and their families. STEM workers earn $14,000 more than the non-STEM workforce does. For this reason, we need the people of Prince Williams County's support!
