NEW STEAM Activities Just for You

We are excited to showcase two NEW STEAM-inspired activities this month! Pink Space Theory is an all volunteer-led organization. It is because of our volunteers that we can do what we do!!

This month I get the opportunity to showcase the talent of two of our amazing volunteers!

Mika is a college student studying neuroscience and French. She can speak, read, and write in Japanese and French. She taught mindfulness practices to her local community.  Mindfulness is a tool for focusing on the present moment and when done consistently, can have benefits such as lower stress. Her thoughtful lessons will include activities for both adults and children to practice mindfulness. Starting June 1, you can check out her Mindful Mondays with Mika activities on our Pink Space Theory Facebook Page.

Fatima has a BSc. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto, Canada, and an MSc in Translational Oncology from the University of Dublin, Ireland. She is a scientist at a Silicon Valley biotech company specializing in developing immunotherapies and monoclonal antibodies for cancer treatment. Fatima created an in-depth and creative activity to explain COVID 19 symptoms, treatments, and preventive measures. This lesson is much more informative and interactive than learning about COVID-19 from watching the news!

Mindful Mondays with Mika - The Tree of Support

Are you looking for ways to reduce stress plus engage in some fun and awesome hands-on STEAM activities with the family? Practice mindfulness with The Tree of Support. This creative mindfulness activity and crafty project can be done with the family or in the classroom.  Check out the full lesson at our Pink Space Theory Facebook Page. We hope you enjoy introducing mindfulness to your lives by checking out this first release!

COVID-19 Lesson and Escape the Lab Activity Created By Fatima

Imagine…. You're a scientist working for the Pink Space Theory biotech company, feverishly working day and night trying to come up with a vaccine for the novel coronavirus. As if the all-nighters and 24/7 self-imposed quarantining weren't turning you loopy already, one Friday night while waking up from a well-deserved nap, you accidentally knock over a coffee-mug from the top-shelf of your lab area and it lands directly on top of your head. As the pain and shock of the hot coffee all over your hair and the possibility of suffering a concussion wear off...you quickly come to a realization.

YOU. CAN'T. REMEMBER. ANYTHING.
Months of research, everything you thought you knew about the virus, your dog's birthday...down the drain!

What’s next.. watch the video and then click on the link below for the complete activity! This activity is ideal for students in high school.

As always, be sure to follow us on @pinkspacetheory and tag us when posting your completed projects so we can share them with our Pink Space Theory community.
